The Shropshire Supports Refugee Team

Director - Amanda Jones

With the emerging migration crisis at the forefront of the news in 2015 Amanda found herself wanting to make a difference. Whilst taking a career break to have her son, Amanda started arranging collections of items for arriving families and even went to Calais with a caravan for a migrant family. The snowball effect of this was amazing and in 2017 she formed Shropshire Supports Refugees (SSR) a Community Interest Company (CIC).

Throughout her career Amanda has worked with children with disabilities in a number of different contexts ranging from working in special needs schools as an assistant to working in respite residential care, outreach and as a social worker assistant in the disabilities team. Her career then continued along the path of working with children in the care system for approximately 15 years. Her passion, enthusiasm and dedication to making the world a better place for all is an inspiration to all those who work with her.

When not in the office Amanda can be found walking and camping in the beautiful Shropshire Hills amongst  nature. She has keen interest in health and wellbeing and enjoys spending time with her husband and sons.
